On August 18th, APS announced its intention to unify all dual campus schools, including Jackson and Sutton Middle School. As part of the planning process, several scenarios have been developed for community input. These scenarios will have a large impact on the Jackson community, so it's critical that our parents, teachers, and community partners understand the options and make our voices heard.

The PTO's position is that any decision should keep the Jackson community together and maintain the high academic performance of our school.

We believe that Scenario 1 for North Atlanta Cluster Elementary Schools offers our Jackson school family the most continuity.

Statement from Principal Atwell

Dear Jackson Families

On Friday afternoon, Atlanta Public Schools released its first set of scenarios for the Comprehensive Long Range Facilities Plan. While we anticipated that these scenarios would impact our school community, the potential effect is greater than many of us imagined. I want to assure you that APS is taking these considerations seriously, and no decisions have been made at this time.

I understand that the possible impact on Jackson is overwhelming for our staff, families, and community. Many of the proposed scenarios are not what we would want for our school, and it is natural to feel concerned and scared by the changes being discussed. Despite this uncertainty, I have confidence in the strength and resilience of our Jackson community.

It is important that you stay informed and actively participate in this process. APS will be hosting public meetings and outreach sessions where you can learn more, provide feedback, and ensure your voices are heard. Your input is essential in shaping decisions that reflect the needs and priorities of our school and the broader APS community.

If you have not already, please visit the project’s website HERE to learn more about the possible scenarios and the future meetings you can attend. https://www.atlantapublicschools.us/APS2040

Thank you all for your support and faith in Jackson. It truly is an amazing place, and together, we can help shape its future! #JacksonForever
